Books, etc.

I wrote this just now:

Don't kid yourself with that list of 100 books, of which the BBC purportedly said only 6 people have read. That list did not come from the BBC, and it's a list of popular books that most people have read, rather than a list that should get you feeling all superior when you realize you already read way more than six of those books. I have a feeling that The Time Traveler's Wife is not on too many lists of the top 100 books every written.

Then I added: (Not that there is anything reading whatever you want to read. Good for you, for reading. It's not an easy thing to do.)

Then I just felt bad because it totally goes against what I am trying to do, as far as not being a snob about books.

But it just really irritates me that there are people out there who are getting all smug because they have read more than six of the most commonly read books in today's society.
